The very first thing made from ReardenMetal is a bracelet. The bracelet symbolizes the value created by Hank Rearden's long struggle to invent ReardenMetal. When he gives it to LillianRearden as a present she says "It's fully as valuable as a piece of railroad rails." However, Lillian fully grasps the significance of the gift - her snide remark is her way of denigrating her husband's ethos.
Later, at a party, when Lillian wears the bracelet as a joke and makes fun of it, Dagny Taggart offers to buy it from her.
